Frank Crowley's interest
in visual art and mythology has resulted in his creation of
a series of artworks called "Fantasy Celtic Kites".
These designs are based on a retelling of Celtic myths and flown
in an imagined Celtic ritual.
In the work shown, he has combined elements of Japanese and
Celtic mythology. Both traditions have the sun as a symbol of
divinity and the horse as a messenger to the gods. There is
also a space to attach a poem or message. In the imagined ritual,
the kite is flown, delivering the votive offering. This work
was recently exhibited in Takefu, Japan.
Frank's other activities include teaching art, developing curriculum
and lesson plans, organizing and curationg exhibits and flying
kites. He is also one of the directors of Windy City Arts.
